Euclid has a rich history in the sport of baseball. From the mid-1950s when Euclid’s GOAT Paul Serra played for the high school and through the next half century, Euclid dominated the local diamond scene. Euclid High School has won more league, district, regional and state championships than any other team at the high school. One essential ingredient to Euclid’s baseball dominance was the feeder system that Euclid Boys’ League provided the high school. Ask any man who grew up in the city in the 1970s and 1980s and most likely they played in the EBL. Moreover, there were many great baseball men who gave voluntarily of their time as coaches in the boys’ league, too many to mention at this time. Summer Baseball in Euclid was a model for other communities to follow.
In the last years, COVID and other factors hit the baseball program hard, and participation dropped. The Euclid Boys’ League is still alive; however their early registration deadline of March 15 caught some families off guard. This is the reason why Euclid is adding an instructional league for players from 9-14 years old. For seven weeks, twice weekly at 9:00 AM in Memorial Park from June 5 – July 27 players will learn proper skills and fundamentals and play intrasquad scrimmages. We welcome parents, alumni, and all lovers of baseball to volunteer their time as instructional coaches.
Euclid Baseball will get back on top. Its’ reclamation will become one of the greatest sports stories anywhere, but it needs an influx of hundreds of baseball players at the little league level. The instructional league will run from June 5 – July 27. Please follow the links or QR code to register.
